Thank you for visiting Chat Noir Photographie. My body of work over the past decade has focused largely on memorial statuary, architecture, and cemetery landscapes although recent years have granted me opportunities to pursue a variety of projects including fine art, nature, commercial, and fashion photography. My portfolio continues to diversify but, somehow, I always find myself back in a quiet corner of the graveyard.
My particular interest has taken me to over thirty-five cemeteries across 4 continents where I've endeavored to capture some of the rich history, artistry, and bittersweet expressions contained therein. The uniquely beautiful statuary and sculptural pieces, tender, scrolling words, haunting ceramic portraiture, and signature architecture are all elements which tell the intimate tales of the community who created them. In honoring those who have traversed the road to the Great Beyond before us it becomes possible to gain a better understanding of our common humanity as well as the common destiny we will all one day share. As Mark Twain once said "Death, the only immortal who treats us all alike, whose peace and whose refuge are for us all: the soiled and the pure, the rich and the poor, the loved and the unloved."
